How far can you get without a software developer?

A coding setup in an off

AI is changing everything in the world of coding and software development. A career path that was a "golden ticket" 10 years ago is now deeply in flux – which has big implications both for people who are thinking about starting careers as software engineers and the people who are going to be hiring software engineers as employees or contractors.

Today I'm sitting down with Brian Coords, the technology director at my web development firm, HDC, to talk about how AI has changed the way we code, how it's affecting entry-level and senior positions much differently, and to offer advice to Innovating with AI readers on when and how to hire coders in the future. (As you might guess, AI has dramatically pushed back the point at which hiring a coder is necessary.)
